After pursuing him in the past, the Celtics finally got Michael Finley. The Celtics signed the 6-7 swingman after he was bought out by San Antonio. Finley will join the Celtics Saturday and likely make his first appearance when they host Washington Sunday. The big question now is how Finley, who turns 37 Saturday, will fit into the rotation."We don't know yet," said Doc Rivers. "But he was available, he's a guy of high character, and he can shoot. But to be honest, we don't know yet if he fits in or not. But adding a veteran can't hurt."Finley struggled with the Spurs this season, but Rivers said, "I think he has basketball left in him. Mike can still play, but we don't know if he will be in the rotation or not.

Paul Pierce was way off his usual game. Rajon Rondo and the other two in the Big Three picked up the scoring slack. Against the sinking 76ers, that was easily enough for a win. Rondo had 16 points and 11 assists, Kevin Garnett scored 22 points, Ray Allen had 16 and the Boston Celtics handed the Philadelphia 76ers their fifth straight loss, 96-86 on Friday night.

Michael Finley will celebrate his 37th birthday Saturday as a member of the Boston Celtics. The veteran swingman asked for and was granted his release from the San Antonio Spurs earlier this week. He will earn a prorated portion of the veteran's minimum of $1.1 million. Center Brook Lopez scored 25 points and guards Devin Harris and Courtney Lee added 23 and 21 points and the New Jersey Nets topped the Celtics 104-96 Saturday. The Nets, who entered the game 5-52 and 2-27 on the road, took a 29-27 lead on Keyon Dooling's jumper at the end of the first quarter and never trailed again.
